Mobile applications have greatly contributed to the popularity of mobile devices because due to mobile applications in some cases it has become more convenient to use smart phones rather than computers. With the help of a mobile device you can buy different products online, play games, chat with other people, order services, and pay bills just in a couple of minutes. However, development of a good mobile application is a process that requires not only resources but also time.

What is development of mobile applications?

It is basically writing specific software (a program) that can be used on mobile devices like tablets and smart phones.

Can I write my own application?

The short answer is yes. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of web sites that provide help with creating well designed mobile applications, and what is more, some of them are absolutely free.

Points to consider before developing mobile application

One of the first important steps towards developing good application is to understand what users actually need. You need to do a small research to figure out what is really needed on the market. Make sure that you or your developers are able to develop such application. It is important to check whether the application you are planning to develop has not been developed yet.

Choosing a platform

If you do not have much money for application development, it is better to choose one platform for launching the application. If you want your application to be accepted and available on stores like Apple store and Play market, you have to follow the rules defined by the markets and stores.

Design and development

You can do it yourself or hire a professional to make your application perfect. The application needs to have a great design and to be convenient in using otherwise users may prefer applications that are easier to use.

Making money

At some point you will think of ways to make you application gain profit for you. Statistics shows that around 90 % of applications are absolutely free. Most developers of mobile applications prefer to make them free - not to charge users for downloading - and to earn money through advertising and in-app purchases. There are different ways of monetization of mobile applications. This notion has become so popular that there are even companies and firms like appodeal.com that provide mobile developers with help in monetizing their applications. Among other popular methods you can find:

  • Freemium - free application with some locked features. In order to unlock these features, you need to pay a fee.
  • In-app advertising - your application is collecting information of people who use it ( their preferences and interests), which is then sold to app publishers, who pay for placing ads in your application based on the received information.
  • Paid apps -application that can be used only after paying certain amount of money. The trick with this method of monetization is to prove that your application is much better than the rest of free applications and it is worth it.
  • In-app purchases - it is exactly how it sounds - selling physical goods or virtual services.

Interesting article. Promotion of mobile applications is just as important as its development. Unlikely that you'll do it yourself without having any experience. In this case the best solution would be to cooperate with a proven service which is engaged in the promotion of mobile applications. I have worked with one of such services - with Applead.
