Microsoft Unveils Nokia X2 Android Phone - Image 1
Nokia and Microsoft have finally released the new Nokia X2, an affordable and user-friendly device for Android enthusiasts. The phone is priced at just $99 and will soon find a place in markets around the world in select countries. As of now, there is no news on this latest best Android phone’s availability and pricing in India.

The Nokia X2 dual-SIM mobile phone, compared to its predecessor Nokia X, is a colorful and bright handset that is sure to attract a lot of attention. The phone has a 4.3 inch WVGA ClearBlack LCD display (480x800p) with a scratch resistant glass. The Nokia X2 runs on a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and comes with 1GB RAM, has a storage capacity of 4GB and is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash.

With a double tap, the phone wakes from slumber and welcomes users to Nokia Glance features on the screen. The weight of the phone is 150 grams and it measures 21.7 x 68.3 x 11.1 mm in dimensions. This Android phone boasts of a transparent outer layer and will bring the best of the color palette in India - shiny green, black and orange, lustrous yellow, white, and matte dark grey.

It supports Double-tap to wake and Nokia Glance screen features.

Other features of the new Nokia X2 include:

1. MicroSD support
2. OneDrive storage of 15GB
3. VGA camera (front facing)
4. 1800 mAh battery

The X2 functions on the Android system of Nokia where there’s a Metro-like tile interface on the top. This version however has been termed as Nokia X Software Platform 2.0. This latest phone proudly flaunts home and back buttons which borrow best attributes from both Microsoft’s Windows Phone software and Android.

The mobile phone also borrows the best apps from both Microsoft and Nokia. The Microsoft apps comprise of Outlook, Skype, OneDrive (the cloud strorage). Users can enjoy unlimited worldwide Skype calls with one month’s free subscription. In addition to this, the Nokia’s Android shop called Nokia Store now lists various third party app stores like:

  • 1Mobile Market
  • Aptoide
  • SlideME
  • Mobango
  • Yandex
This interface has made it simpler to insert Android apps in to the phone. However, there’s no access to the main Android store Google Play, which is quite a setback for Nokia and its Android system.

Other apps in the Nokia X2 kitty will include Here Maps and MixRadio and users will be able to enjoy Yammer, Bing Search, and many Xbox games on the Nokia Store.

As far as the connectivity options are concerned, the Nokia X2 supports 3G network, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.

Most countries will see a dual-SIM version of Nokia X2, which will prove quite useful for businessmen and others alike. Till now, Nokia has officially announced only the availability of a dual-SIM version of Nokia X2, but a single-SIM handset is soon to follow.

We hope this information helps you take an informed decision while comparing different mobile phones and choosing the X2. We will keep you posted when the mobile does make an entry into the Indian market, hopefully with a bang!
