I have a bunch of music on my Apple Music, and I saved them in my MacBook.

Then I copied those files and tried to play them in my Sony Walkman. I FAILED! It is because some kind of incompatible issue…
Have you ever encounter such problem that downloaded Apple Music songs can’t be played on some of your media device? Actually, most of us know that Apple Music has its own devices limitation. That’s why you always failed to play Apple Music songs on your MP3 player, smartphone, etc. Want to know whether your device support Apple Music? Check it below:
Apple Music Support Devices:

From Apple’s official website, we can know Apple Music can only be played on:

  • iOS Devices (runs version 8.4 or later): iPhone 4s and newer, iPad 2 and newer, iPad mini and newer, iPod touch 5th generation.
  • iPods: Sorry, iPod shuffle and iPod nano cannot download and stream Apple Music tracks for on-the-go listening.
  • Android: Apple Music app for Android is available to mobile devices running Android 4.3 and up.
  • Computers: On the mac you will need OS X 10.9.5 or newer, iTunes version 12.2 or later; Windows PC user need iTunes 12.2 or later and Windows 7 or newer for Apple Music support.
  • Apple Music is available on the Apple Watch 1.0.1 or later and on the Apple TV.

In addition, you are limited to listen to Apple Music on up to 10 devices including up to 5 computer.
So, you’ll be failed to play Apple Music songs on the device that we don’t mentioned above. We can’t explain how the restriction work here. But, you can know that all of these limitations are caused by DRM. For those unfamiliar with the topic, DRM is code added to digital files that restricts when and how those files can be played.

  • Want to listen to Apple Music on multiple device at once?
  • Want to add Apple Music to your video creation?
  • Want to play Apple Music on some unsupported devices such as iPods, MP3 player or game console?

To sync apple music to ipod, you may need a converter, especially for ipod classic. Unlike iPod touch, iPod nano and shuffle lack Wi-Fi capabilities so that Apple can't authenticate whether or not the device has an active Apple Music subscription. In other words, if that's allowed, you can freely download all Apple Music songs and save them on your iPods within the 3-month free trial and then cancel the service permanently. In this case, you can keep any track from Apple Music on iPod forever without any cost. To avoid such situation, Apple disables the sync between Apple Music and iPod nano/shuffle, as well as other common MP3 players. In result, only selected devices that support Apple Music app could stream and play the songs properly.

Once I tried to sync downloaded Apple Music tracks to iPod Nano or Shuffle, you'll probably get an error message saying "Apple Music songs cannot be copied to an iPod". So I search for that and start to know that many other iPod users are also facing the same problem as I do. Worst of all, Apple has just discontinued iPod Nano and Shuffle a while back. Currently, iPod touch is the only iPod model that can download and stream songs from Apple Music. If you are using iPod Nano or Shuffle, or even the older iPod Classic, you won't be able to stream and play any Apple Music track within the player itself. But now, that problem can be solved for good thanks to the development of 3rd-party Apple Music to iPod converter. Depending on what iPod models you are using, you can choose different tools and solutions in order to play Apple Music on iPod smoothly. Here are the best approaches you can follow. Here you meet TunesKit Apple Music Converter, a smart application to enable you put Apple Music songs on iPod nano or shuffle easily. All it does is completely remove DRM lock from the Apple Music tracks you downloaded onto your local drive and then convert the songs to MP3, AAC and other formats supported by iPod. In this way, you are not only able to sync Apple Music to iPod but also keep the Apple Music songs forever on iPod even when the subscription ends.
