In Search of a Mobile Platform for a Sales App

Choosing a mobile platform is one of the most crucial stages for developing an app for sales. Despite that this choice’s usually portrayed as a very difficult one, all you need to do is to ask yourself the right questions.

In this article, ScienceSoft will show you how to make a correct choice just by answering simple yes/no questions in our logical chart.

1. Do your employees stick to one platform?

If your answer is yes – congratulations, you’re at the end of the route! Or well, we’ve probably lost you at the title already, since in your case there’s no need to question the platform at all. Whatever the functionality of your sales app, native development will make it work.

By answering no, however, you get to question 2.
2. Do you need a complex functionality?

If yes, you should seek professional advice from mobile apps developers as you won’t be able to estimate the actual complexity of your app on your own. However, if your app is quite simple - say, a product catalogue with up to 200 items or a feedback forms app, your best choice is the hybrid development on Apache Cordova. Cordova-based apps can be developed in the shortest time possible and are affordable for any business (but just in case check out question 3).

If no, you want a product catalogue with quite an elaborate structure with more than 500 items or an app that will require hardware to use (for instance, a camera to take photos of legal documents signed by a client). Here, we recommend developing on Xamarin. Still, as there are two types of Xamarin, go to the next question to decide which of them will work best for you.
3. Do you care about how native your app design will be?

You might say "no, not really" right away, since this is a field sales application you want to create and its main purpose is to help employees do their work, not to enjoy the beauty of the design. In this case, Xamarin.Forms will do just fine for you to create a design that won’t flaunt some of the native peculiarities.

But just give it a thought. Even a simple non-native application can have a 100% native look if it is designed on Xamarin.iOS or Xamarin.Android. An application with native navigation and buttons designed just as those on iOS/Android will win the hearts of your employees, allowing them to perform their job in a user-friendly mobile environment. Show your sales representatives some love and they will return it with dozens and hundreds of successfully closed deals.
Conclusion
The success of your application highly depends on the platform, so be sure to make the right choice. Feel free to catch up with our consulting experts and learn more about sales force mobile applications.
