With Google’s announcement for its next Android version - Nougat, speculations for what new the company is adding to the OS have begun to build around the mobile industry all over the world. Here are the top most exciting features Android developers and users can expect from the latest version of Android.
Improved UI and Notifications
We will see a new, tweaked UI in the Nougat. Much attention has been given to make notifications more apparent. Users will have quick control over toggling while swiping down from the top of the screen. You will instantly be able to activate Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a lot more.
Notifications will be fully optimized to be space-efficient along with filling screen. Also, they have smaller fonts so that you can see more of notifications. They can be customized to arrive in stacks according to the app so that your entire screen does not look fully occupied with unnecessary notifications that you do not want to see.
Switching between apps as well as multiple windows
We have already been using Android as multi-tasking phone but this time, with the new version of the OS, multitasking gets even better. With Quick Switch’ users will instantly switch to the last app they used just by double tapping the Recent button. Also, there is Clear all button in the recent menu and it isn’t present in Android Marshmallow.
Apart that, Android has got its own multi-window feature through the Recent menu. By pressing the Recent button from within an app, a second app can be opened alongside it, in split screen view.
This feature will make large screen devices more productive such as users will be able to surf the web along with replying to chat in WhatsApp.
Picture-In-Picture
The Picture-In-Picture feature provides the ability to watch video's in a pinned window in the corner while other activities run in the background. But this feature appears to be aimed more at Android TV than mobiles or tablets.
Vulkan API Support
The quality of gaming, VR, and other graphically intensive apps on mobile will improve as Google’s adopting Vulkan API support. The OpenGL will be replaced with Vulkan. It promises that with creating cross-platform games will be much easier with Vulkan API.
Daydream VR
Google is introducing Daydream VR with its new Android version. It’s a VR platform – a set of VR headset and controller hardware that makes the discovering and consuming of VR content easier than ever before. It will be compatible with brand new handsets; it means your current phone will not support it. Google’s new 2016 Nexus phone should support it. Google's android app developer having plans to create VR apps will indeed get an encouragement through this update.
Allo and Duo
Two most notable enhancements are Allo and Duo Apps. Allo is the new messaging app incorporating Google formidable search, machine learning, and security technologies. This allows users to conduct web searches and make a booking from within conversations. It will also suggest the possible reply of a message by understanding the words and picture sent to you. Also with Incognito Chat users will be able to make end-to-end encryption for their messages. If you want to set messages to expire after a certain time, Allo will do that.
Due is another new video calling app which makes the video calling quite simpler. Also, it’s possible to get previews of a call before you pick up it and calls can be optimized to use limited bandwidth.
These are the six remarkable features Google is going to add to its new version of Android – Nougat.
